The Fear of Man

The Fear of Man

The fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.
–         Proverbs 29:25

It is the fear of man that says we cannot do it.
It is the fear of man that says we don’t have the funding.
It is the fear of man that says we don’t have the talent.
It is the fear of man that says we don’t have the manpower.
It is the fear of man that says we don’t have the time.
It is the fear of man that says we don’t have the wherewithal.
It is the fear of man that says we might fail.
It is the fear of man that says it is impossible.
It is the fear of man that says it is impractical.
It is the fear of man that says it is improbable.
It is the fear of man that says it has failed in the past.
It is the fear of man that says we’ve always done it this way.

And it is the fear of man that asks “why?”

What our Synod and our church’s need are more:
hope, in Him who can move mountains;
faith, in Him who can split the seas;
trust, in the one that is referred to as the “truth”;
more appreciation and acknowledgement of grace
and more fear of Lord; which is the beginning of real wisdom.
