I wrote verse 2 below about the Holy Spirit to go along with the song, “Sanctuary.” I wrote it to tie in with Martin Luther’s explanation of the Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed: “…the Holy Spirit…calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.”

    Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary. Pure and holy, tried and true.
    With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living, Sanctuary for You.

    Holy Spirit — You sanctify me, And preserve me — in faith so true.
    You call and gather — and enlighten The Christian Church and — make us new.

    Lead me away, Lord — from temptation, Purify me — from within.
    Fill my heart with — Your Holy Spirit, Take away — all my sin.
