“The Basics” – Perhaps this reading might work well when visitors or those who are young in their faith are expected.

C: God is our Creator. We are his creatures. He is the potter. We are the clay.
M: While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. – Titus 2:13-14
C: We are sinners and He is our Savior.
M: Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. – Romans 8:1-2
C: God has done it all for us believers, not by our works but by His grace. We now stand redeemed and saved in His presence.
M: The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. – Romans 8:15-17

M: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. – John 10:11
C: God is our Shepherd. We are his sheep. He lays down his life for us. We trust His word.
M: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
C: We are weak. He is strong. We rely on His perfect strength.
